Quarter 1
Goals
My goal is to improve my skills in algebra and also complex equations. I also hope to improve my skills of analyzing and solving word problems and also improve in tests requiring investigation and reflection.

Reflection
In this quarter, I learned about exponents. I learned what it is and how to solve problems regarding it. I started with simple problems and as time passed, I started solving more difficult problems. I struggled in this topic because I was confused in solving some of the harder equations and this was shown through the result of the second test. The next topic I learned was linear inequalities and the ways of solving its problems. I understood the basics of it and solving its equations but I am still finding difficulty in solving its complex word problems. This is my best sample work because I was able to acheve an excellent score even though it was my first math test this academic year. This was also better compared to my other test results. I think that I did well in answering each of the questions correctly by recalling all of the theories I learned. I was also able to describe my answers in detail and also provide correct justification. I was also well in using the correct notations, symbols, words, formulas, diagrams, tables and charts. Other than that, I was also able to provide the answers neatly and structure it in a logical order. I do not think that I need to improve anything in this test since I achieved a perfect score, which was 8 out of 8 in both criteria. This sample work develops my understanding of the global context Scientific and Technical Innovation because I was able to learn more about mathematical laws, specifically exponents, and its use in the world. I also learned how we, as humas, use our understanding of exponents for calculating measurements and how this is important to help us. Before the discovery of exponents, it was more difficult for people to calculate some mathematical problems. These things show how I explored the topics of systems, models, methods, processes, solutions, modernization, industrialization, engineering, mathematical puzzles, mathematical principles, and also mathematical discoveries. |

Quarter 2
Goals
I hope that I can learn new math skills and techniques. I also hope that I can improve my skills in solving word problems because it is one of the topics that I struggle with. Other than that, I hope that can be more thorough when doing tests because in one of the tests in the 1st quarter, I made a careless mistake and it affected my overall score.

Reflection
In Mathematics this quarter, I learned about quadratic equations. In the start of the quarter, I learned how to solve quadratic equations using three different methods, which were by factorization, completing the square and also using the quadratic formula. The next subtopic that I learned was the discriminant of a quadratic. After learning that, I learned how to graph quadratic functions and also how to find a quadratic function from its graph. Lastly, I learned how to solve word problems regarding quadratic equations. The topics were challenging to me because I have never learned it before. There was also a test, which was regarding word problems, at the end of the quarter. Even though I was confused in how to solve it at start, in the end I was able to find out the answer to the question. I understood some of the topics at the end of the quarter but I still struggle in graphing and also solving word problems. This is my best sample work because I was able to achieve a perfect score in a two criterion test, specifically criteria C and D. I am very proud of my achievement because the topic, which was about word problems regarding quadratic equations, was unfamiliar to me and I struggled when I was learning about it. I was also able to put my best effort into it. I think I did well in following the instructions because I made a complete introduction, correctly applied the axes, correctly identify the coordinates, showed clear and complete steps to get the right quadratic model, provided a complete and coherent explanation, and also have a systemised structure of work. I was also able to relate quadratic equations to reality, select the appropriate form of quadratic modelling, justify the quadratic modelling using another method, and also give a valid reason why the solution and answers are correct. I do not think that there is anything I need to improve because I achieved a perfect score in this test, which was 8 out of 8. This sample work develops my understanding of the global context Scientific and Technical Innovation because I learned about the laws of quadratic equations and how to use my understanding of quadratic equations in real life, such as in this test, I was able to find out if a truck would fit into a parabolic tunnel. I also learned about the impact of the knowledge of quadratic equations towards the community. This shows that I learned about the topics of systems, models, methods, products, processes, solutions, mathematical principles and mathematical discoveries. |
