Reflection
In Visual Arts this quarter, the main topic was watercolor painting. I also did some observational drawings of the school's structure during the first weeks of the quarter. I learned different techniques of watercolor painting such as the skill of mixing colors and also learned some tips about watercolor painting by watching some videos. I was interested in these topics because watercolor painting is one of my most favorite forms of art and in the end, I improved my ability in it. I did a couple of watercolor paintings throughout the quarter but the most important was the final painting project, which was to paint a historical Indonesian structure.

Sample Work - Final Artwork Project
Teacher's Assessment
This is my best sample work because I was able to achieve a good score even though it was the very first art assessment this academic year. I was able to show my skills in watercolor painting in this artwork and I am pleased of my final work.
I think I did well in using different techniques of watercolor painting such as gradation, showing the light and dark parts of the building and creating different shades of a color. I also did well in painting the details of the structure and I was able to make it look attractive and eye-catching instead of dull and monotonous. Other than that, I also did well in focusing on only one part of the picture, which was the temple instead of putting too much detail on the background. The purpose of this is so that the viewers will not be overwhelmed by too much things on the artwork.
I can improve this artwork by making the transitions in tone from dark to light more soft and harmonious. I also need to improve in making some parts of the painting neater because there are still some small mistakes.
This assignment develops my understanding of the global context Orientation in Space and Time because I was able to paint a temple that is found in Indonesia, specifically Dieng. I was able to know more about its structure and its intricate design. This shows how I learned about an important part of Indonesia's history as I learned about the structure of a temple. Other than that, I learned about its variability to other temples and also its size.

Quarter 2
Goals
My goal is to keep on improving my art skills, especially in drawing and sketching, and also learn new techniques. I would also like to keep on putting my best on every artwork that I make and apply my knowledge that I will learn into my future projects/artworks.

Reflection
In this quarter of Visual Arts, there were several things that I learned. The first topic that I learned was observational drawing. I started with learning the basics of drawing a portrait from different angles, such as from the front and the side. After that I started to draw portraits of my friends based on observation. This was pretty challenging to me because drawing portraits is not one of my strengths. I drew portraits of three of my friends, whom were Hansson, Felicia and Karen. The last one was quite different from the ones before because the portrait had to show the emotion of the person, such as anger or happiness. After that, I learned about impressionist and expressionist painting. I started with impressionist painting, which is painting based on observation. This type of painting was difficult for me because it was hard to find the right combination of color to match the skin tone of the person. As I started with the expressionist painting, which is a painting that shows feelings and has a special message, it was much easier because I can use my own colors to show the emotion of the person. The expressionist painting was also my final painting project of the quarter. Overall, I was interested in the topics that I learned because it was something that was new to me and I learned a lot of new skills.

Sample Work - Expressionist Painting
Teacher's Assessment
This is my best sample work because I was able to achieve an excellent score, which was 7/7. I was able to express the emotion of the person, which was confusion, through the facial expression and also the colours that I used. I was also able to show my skills in acrylic painting through this artwork too.
I think I did well in using different techniques of acrylic painting, such as applying the technique of gradation into the artwork. I also did well in my choice of colours because I chose colours that were complementary and that expressed the emotion of the person. I also designed the painting in a unique way. I was also able to direct the viewer's attention to the figure of the person because I used a colour that was dull for the background, which was grey. I was also able to make my painting look similar to the person and use geometric shapes to form the figure of the person. These were the reasons why my painting was attractive and eye-catching to the viewers.
I can improve this artwork by making the transitions in tone from dark to light more soft and harmonious. This because in some parts of the painting, there will still parts of the hue that did not blend and this decreased the quality of the artwork. I also need to improve in making some parts of the painting neater because there are still some small mistakes.
This assignment develops my understanding of the global context Personal and Cultural Expression because I learned about expressionist painters. I learned that expressionism grew as a product of the war due to the fact that people were affected not only physically but also emotionally. They were able to see the chaos brought by the war and they channel their emotions through the artworks that they made. They were able to extend their creativity through the colours and techniques that they used so that the viewer would grasp the message that is trying to be shown through the artwork. This shows that I learned about artistry, craft, creation and also products.
