Quarter 1
Civics is one of the subjects that I am interested in because I could have the opportunity to learn and know more about the history of Indonesia. In this quarter, I learned about the Indonesian constitution. In total, there were 3 constitutions made by the Indonesian government. The first one, Undang-Undang Dasar 1945 (UUD 1945), was made by PPKI and it was in force from 18 August 1945 until 27 December 1949. It then changed into Konstitusi Republik Indonesia Serikat (Konstitusi RIS), which was made by the Dutch Federal Consultative and the Indonesian Delegation and it was in force from 27 December 1949 until 17 August 1950. Then, because the people of Indonesia wanted to become a unitary country once again, a temporary constitution was made namely Undang-Undang Dasar Sementara 1950 (UUDS 1950). In the end, because of the difficulty of creating a new constitution, it changed back to the very first constitution which was UUD 1945. In general, the Indonesian constitution changed from time to time because of some domestic and foreign factors. The domestic factors are because of some disagreement among the society and also because of changes that the president made. The foreign factors are because of the changes that are happening in this world and because of globalisation.
This is my best sample work because I was able to get a good grade although it was my very first civics test in SPH. This test also incorporates all the topics that I learned in this quarter. I think that I did well in remembering about the history of the Indonesian constitution as I got a perfect 10 in the criterion A part of my test. On the contrary, explaining more critically is something that I need to improve as it is something that I am not really good at. I must write in more detail so that I could achieve a better score. This piece of work relates to the IB learner's profile of Inquirer as I researched about the Indonesian constitution and wanted to know more about it. For knowledgable, I learned various things about the Indonesian constitution including the purpose of it in our government and the changes that happened to it. |

In quarter 2, I learned about constitutional deviations. I learned that deviation of constitution is the practices of the government that violates the constitution law. These deviations may happen in every country and they may be done by state officials, political leaders or the society. I also learned some behaviours that may lead to these deviations such as falsification of documents, abuse of power for personal benefit and also occurrence of rules that violates the constitution. These deviations may lead to consequences such as chaos across the nation and the development of the country is hampered. I learned about the constitution deviations that happened during the presidency of Indonesian leaders Soekarno and Soeharto. Other than that, I also learned about one deviation that happened in Zimbabwe, a country in Africa. This deviation relates to the media rights of the citizens of Zimbabwe. The people of Zimbabwe were not allowed to express their thoughts through any form of media such as radios, televisions and the news. They wanted the government to repeal this law because they think that it violates human rights.
I think this poster is my best sample work because I was able to incorporate all of the topics I learned in this quarter into this poster. I did this poster with Stella, Samantha and Kristina and I think we did a good job. We did well in writing the information clearly as we provided a detailed explanation of the effects and solutions of the deviations that happened. We were also able to display the information clearly so that people may not be confused and they may understand it well. Another thing we did well was that we made the titles and labels large so that people may read it from afar. We were also able to use MLA citation correctly. We can improve this poster by making it more attractive and eye-catching as in my opinion, we could have made it better. We can also organise the information more neatly. This poster shows the IB learner's profile of thinkers because my group was able to write the information thoroughly and correctly and in the end, we were able to achieve a good score. We were able to incorporate all of our ideas and the facts that we learned onto this piece of work clearly and in detail. It also shows communicators because we were able to show the information to other people in a creative way and make it easy to understand. We were able to organise the poster in a way so that it would look attractive and neat but I think we do better because we got a 3 instead of a 4. |
